Silvia Weidenbach is an award-winning jewellery artist working at the intersection of goldsmithing, silversmithing, material culture and digital innovation. Her practice combines traditional craftsmanship with emerging technologies to create distinctive contemporary works that explore dialogues between historical artefacts and future possibilities of making.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art, London, Silvia pioneered the concept of digital craft, developing a hybrid approach that merges haptic technologies, 3D design and artificial intelligence with traditional craftsmanship. Informed by research into applied arts, museum collections and archival sources, she explores new relationships between the past and the future of adornment.
She was the first Gilbert Collection Artist in Residence at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, where her work is held in the permanent collection. Her work is also represented in the National Museum of Scotland, the Germanisches Nationalmuseum and the Swiss National Museum.
Silvia is a Lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art and teaches internationally at London College of Fashion, HEAD Genève and Kolding School of Design.
